Factors leading to dark circles

  • Fatigue
  • Oversleeping, extreme fatigue, or an irregular sleep schedule can cause dark circles under your lower eyelids. Sleep deprivation can cause your skin to become dull and pale, allowing dark tissues and blood vessels beneath your skin to show, considered dark circles. Lack of sleep can also cause fluid to build underneath your eyes, causing them to appear puffy. Therefore, causing a shadow cast by your puffy eyes, resulting in looking like dark circles.

  • Rubbing of eyes continuously
  • Continuous rubbing of the eyes causes blood vessels in the eyelids to break and leak blood. As a result, blood pools under the skin and creates dark circles. Regular eye rubbing over an extended period can also lead to a condition known as keratoconus.

  • Smoking
